Ideally, workplaces would have policies supportive of the new family: a lactation support program similar to the one at Centers for Disease Control & Prevention with electric pumps availible free of charge, lactation rooms in every building where women quietly go to pump, separate refrigerators in the lactation room for storing pumped milk, and a breastfeeding blog or listserv for employess--so that lactating mothers throughout the workplace or community could "gather" to mentor one another in the everyday practice of breastfeeding a child.
